Postira

Postira is a small port town on the northern coast of Brac, between Splitska and Pucisca.  Behind the town is a 2 kilometer long fruitful valley with wine grapes, and abundant in vegetables. The inhabitants are mostly occupied with agriculture, fishing and stone carving.  Besides the fresh fish specialties, guests can indulge in the home grown foods and delicious wines that the fertile soil in the hinterland provides.  Near the town there are numerous, beautiful bays apt for bathing. The most popular are Prvja and Lovrecina.
The parish church was built in the 16th century.  East of Postira, in the Lovrecina bay, there are ruins of an Early Christian basilica dating from the 5th/6th century; two Early Christian sarcophagi and fragments of Roman plastics are found next to it.
Besides various accommodations (apartments, hotels, board and lodging), sport lovers can use all kinds of playgrounds (basketball, tennis, bowling) and water sports.
Organized excursions such as fish picnics in the Lovrecina bay are also offered to guests.
Among the cultural activities offered by the Summer of Postira are the numerous traditional festivals that light up the town and provide unforgettable entertainment for the guests.  They include the feast of Saint John, the protector of the parish, on June 24th; Lady of Karmel on July 16th and Assumption of the Virgin Mary on August 15th.
